Slow Carb Salsa
If you’re following the Slow Carb diet ala Four Hour Body, I’m sure you’d have come to the same realisation as me as you go around grocery shopping:
There’s a lot unwanted crap in our foods, especially things like sugar and starch, which, even when not following the Slow Carb diet, adds unneccesary carbohydrates and calories to our food.
Why do companies do this? It’s simple really – to cut down costs while maintaining flavour and consistancy. Yes, it’s actually quite ingenius, but not when it effects our gut… and our health.
Been looking around for some affordable yet healthy Salsa. I was quite dissapointed with what’s available…because it seems like even the more expensive selections, including the organic ones, had some of these fillers.
Then I hit jackpot: TOSTITOS All Natural Chunky Salsa (link)
Checked out the ingredients list…and no additional sugar and starch!
Not only that…it’s:
- Got 0% Trans Fat
- Corn Free
- Gluten Free
- Casein Free
- Lactose Free
- MSG Free
- Porcine Free (Pork Enzymes)
All these, at normal bottled Salsa price.
Comes in 4 different flavours – Mild, Medium, Hot and Restaurant Style (link).
Great if you’re in a lazy mood =p
Where To Purchase
Within the US: Amazon.com
Outside the US: Check your local stores
If you can find them, Texas Texas Salsas by Sanderson Farms are also good choices. No added fat, oil, sugar, water, or preservatives. And they are gluten-free.
Even better, they taste great!
BTW — I took your advice and added my full blog URL to my 4HB Cheat Day Cheat Sheet. In fact, I added a logo to it. =)
Thanks for the link in your blogroll!
Oh yeah, and I added you to my blogroll as well. =)
Thanks for the recommendation and the add ^^
Is it okay to have a good portion of salsa like this…or only in moderation such as a tablespoon. Can I apply it liberally to food?
Only veggies are used, don’t see why you wouldn’t wanna go crazy with this.
Enjoy 😉
